Since the retirement of two of its long-term GPs in August 2018, Taurus Healthcare has been providing GP services at Ledbury Market Surgery. This was always a transitional arrangement to allow for discussions on the surgery’s long term future to take place with staff and patient groups and to plan for the eventual merger of Ledbury Market with Ledbury’s other GP practice: St Katherine’s.
Extensive discussions, facilitated through a ‘Ledbury Transformation Board’ (comprising representatives of St Katherine’s surgery, Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group and Taurus Healthcare) have been held with staff and the local Patient Participation Group (PPG) to identify and address any worries about the future.
Staff were also asked to vote for a new merged surgery name, which was eventually decided as The Ledbury Health Partnership.
Patients from both practices were invited to send in comments, concerns and any ideas. These were all reviewed and discussed with members of the PPGs from both practices and responses published on the St Katherine’s surgery website.
Taurus’s contract with the CCG to run Ledbury Market Surgery will end on 31 March 2020. After that date, the two surgeries effectively merged to become Ledbury Medical Practice. Taurus will still be involved as one of six partners running the new practice.
